NAR takes rent control fight to New York
It's been less than a month since the National Association of REALTORS® joined a challenge to a Massachusetts statewide ballot initiative on rent control. Now, NAR has joined the New York State Association of REALTORS® and a coalition of industry partners in a legal challenge against New York's Rent Stabilization Law. The group has asked permission to file a friend-of-the-court brief in a case filed by small-scale housing providers and a group representing the interests of small property owners. "Through this amicus brief, we aim to provide the court with a clear understanding of how overly restrictive rent regulations can limit housing supply, discourage investment in property maintenance and create long‑term challenges for both housing providers and renters," NAR Director of Legal Advocacy Caitlin Vannoy told writer Ross Hettervig. "Policies that promote investment and increased supply are critical to creating a stable, sustainable housing market." A ruling on the request to file an amicus brief is pending before the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York.

Through its partnership with Kalibrate, RPR Commercial offers comprehensive traffic count data to help REALTORS® make informed decisions when assisting clients in site selection. Providing valuable traffic count insight into the potential footfall (the number of people entering a store or shopping area in a given time) and site visibility can be make or break for a new business. The more people who see a business or are exposed to its signage, the more likely they are to visit!
Although counting cars and commuters, and determining annual average daily traffic is not a new idea, many commercial specialists don’t utilize the data to properly advise their clients.
