On April 11, 1968, President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Civil Rights Act of 1968. Title VIII, the Fair Housing Act, prohibited housing discrimination based on “race, color, religion and national origin.” In 1974, a prohibition on sex discrimination was added, and in 1988, the law was expanded to include disability and familial status as protected classes. The law applies to any aspect of the residential real estate transaction—including the sale, appraisal and financing.

Legislation & Regulation
RPAC helping your bottom line
Senate passes landmark housing legislation
Last month, the U.S. Senate passed the bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, advancing one of the most significant federal efforts to address the nation's housing supply and affordability challenges in decades. The National Association of REALTORS® strongly supported the bill.
NAR has spent years building the foundation for this moment, partnering with lawmakers on both sides of the aisle.

Each of these families worked with MSBR REALTORS®; Title Companies and Lenders, turning the dream of homeownership into a reality—right here in our communities.
Let’s keep the momentum going.
You can make a difference by:
Making a one-time donation, or
Choosing a recurring donation to extend your impact all year long.
